Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy2 years agoA. if the growth of the child is proper there is no need to give any health supplements or calcium or multivitamins to the child but if it is less than your doctor will examine and according to the deficiency the doctor will give medicine and tell till what time a supplement needs to be continued.
but it is at the same time advisable to go natural by giving diet as per age of the childd which contains all the important nutrients and supplements.
usually you have to give only iron and vitamin d supplementsx to the child but that also in maintenance dosage and not as a deficiency dosage after medical consultation.
you have to continue vitamin d3 supplement till you are not able to take the child in sunlight.
if you are giving 400 units you have to give 1ml everyday and if you're giving 800 units you have to give 0.5 ml everyday.
the thing is that you have to keep the child in sunlight for at least half an hour between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for proper vitamin d exposure.
so if you are able to take the child in sunlight you can stop vitamin d supplement e
POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy2 years agoA. Breastfed or partially breastfed babies need 400 international units (IU) of liquid vitamin D a day — starting soon after birth. Babies should continue to receive this amount of vitamin D until weaned or until they drink 32 ounces (about 1 liter) a day of vitamin D-fortified formula or, after age 12 months, whole milk.
