A. Food And Nutrition Priya Mankotia Sep 14, 2017 1 to 3 years 5 Cracked Wheat Daliya Khichdi Recipes for Your Growing Child Daliya recipe reminds everyone of their childhood days, when our mothers feds Daliya, especially the kheer or porridge or its variation sweet dalia. We all have heard and are familiar with the name Dalia khichdi. This cereal has never been off the shelf and is very popular as breakfast cereal. It is easy to digest, light for stomach and anytime a yummy option to eat. At least i like it a lot and so does my daughter (mostly the Laapsi). Today, I would like to share a few of my favourite dalia recipes with you moms, and also try to highlight why daliya should be an important part of our children’s diet.   What Is Daliya? Daliya is essentially broken/cracked wheat or bulgur wheat used across continents as a health superfood. In India, we generally use daliya made from wheat, though we may have come across corn, barley and buckwheat daliya too. Some varieties of daliya are thick, while some others are thin in texture and consistency. Is Daliya Good For Babies and Toddlers? Daliya is made from whole wheat and is a great source of fiber, and keeps the digestive tract healthy. Daliya contains insoluble fiber making bowel movements easier for the child. It is a good source of proteins and lends quick energy thanks to the carbohydrate content in it. Additionally, daliya is absorbed slowly by the body, making the baby feel full longer. You can give daliya to babies after the age of 7 months.   5 Easy to Make And Nutritious Daliya Khichdi Recipes For Babies And Toddlers Here are a few known, quick and healthy recipes for your child that will tempt even the fussy eaters. 1. Sweet Laapsi For Babies: : Vegetable Daliya Dry roast dalia for 2-3 minutes till slightly brown and gives out roasted aroma and keep aside Heat oil in a kadhai/pan Add mustard seeds. When they splutter, add urad and chana dal curry leaves.
