Yes, it is normal for some 45-day-old babies to sleep for longer stretches at night without needing to feed, especially if they are gaining weight appropriately and are otherwise healthy. At around 6 weeks of age, many babies start to sleep for longer periods during the night, as their stomachs can hold more milk and they can go for longer without needing to be fed.
However, keep in mind the following:
Feeding Needs: Ensure that your baby is feeding well during the day and gaining weight as expected. A well-fed baby will often sleep longer at night.
Growth Spurts: Babies go through growth spurts and may temporarily wake up more frequently for feeds. So, if the sleeping pattern changes again, it could just be due to a growth spurt.
Hydration and Feeding: If you are exclusively breastfeeding, ensure that you are offering enough feeds during the day, as breast milk is digested quickly. You may want to pump or offer extra feeds during the day if your baby sleeps long stretches at night.
Monitoring: Continue to monitor for any signs of dehydration, such as fewer wet diapers or lethargy, which might indicate that your baby is not getting enough milk.
If you have any concerns about your baby's feeding or sleeping patterns, it’s always a good idea to consult your pediatrician to ensure everything is progressing well.
