#AskTheExpert Hii Dr good morning my baby is 4 month old when he was born he weighs 3.6 and in 2 months he weighs 4.8 and in 3 months 5.3 now he is 5 kg why he is not gaining a weight mam what to do

A. Hello mom he is gaining weight , babies tend to double their birth weight by 5-6 months and triple by the age of one year . As long as your child is active , playful, takes your feed well and sleeps peacefully there should be no worries

A. dear mum exclusively breastfeed till 6 months complete. feed frequently on demand. at one time feed from only one breast so that baby receives fat rich hindmilk which will help in weight gain ensure that baby latches properly during breastfeeding. baby should be double the birth weight by 6 months or less
