Q.

Hi, post delivery my cycle is not regular. Earlier I used to get regularly with + or - 3 days. Now, it is getting delayed by 10 to 15 days. I used primolute once for 6 days. Can it cause irregularities? Please let me know. Thanks

A. A. This is quite common problem and many women face this. The major reason behind delayed or irregular periods after delivery is breastfeeding. The longer the mother breastfeeds her infant, the more delayed or irregular her periods would be. The hormone which is responsible for the production of breast milk, prolactin, reduces ovulation in women. This is why some women have their periods 6-8 months after childbirth. It is ideal that you get yourself checked by the doctor inspite of knowing the reasons of delayed periods. Primolut causes hormonal effect, it will change in few days...

A. it's normal to expect irregular periods after the delivery... some may experience irregular timing, some may experience heavy bleeding while some may experience light bleeding.. all are normal till you're breastfeeding the baby... But always use protection... if you're still concerned then please consult the gynaecologist regarding the same as he can better guide you through the same after proper examination and analysis
