Q.
Hi My son is 19 days old he poops alot and suffering from gas problem also what should I do please advise

Dr Vinay kulkarniFather of 2 children7 years agoA. 19 day old baby may pass stools upto 15 times per day. it is completely normal provided baby is on completely breastfeeding. For gas problems burping is very important, do it regularly.

Vritika AroraMom of a 9 yr 4 m old boy7 years agoA. Do not worry if the baby poops once in seven days or seven times in one day. This is for the babies who are on breast feed only.The babies till 6 months who are on breast milk only can go without pooping even for 7-8 days. The child may have constipation if the baby is on formula feed or on both breast and formula feed.in such you can change the brand of the formula feed. The mother should include lots of vegetables and fruits like chikoo apple fig fruits green vegetables etc into her diet which will help the baby in passing poop. The color of the poop could be green or brown or yellow etc. Nothing to worry about. The potty should not be watery black or white in colour and should not have blood spots in it . Only in such case rush to the doctor. Rest it's ok.

For gas and other stomach related issues if baby is h follow these simple steps Do paddling exercise (can be done if umbilical cord has fallen Massage on the stomach 15 min prior to feeding the baby Apply hing paste and give hot compress (lukewarm which u can feel on ur cheeks) on the stomach of ur baby ( make sure u maintain a gap of 1 hour between feeding) Put baby on stomach and massage gently on the back of ur baby from top to bottom ( do not do it up to 1 hrs of feeding)
