A. White patches on the skin of an 8-month-old baby could be a sign of different underlying conditions, so it is important to have them checked by a pediatrician or a dermatologist. Here are some possible causes of white patches on the skin: 1. Fungal infections: Fungal infections can cause white patches on the skin. They are common in infants and can affect different parts of the body. They usually require antifungal medication to clear it up. 2. Eczema: Eczema is a condition that causes dry, itchy skin and can lead to white or pale patches. 3. Vitiligo: Vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder that causes loss of skin color, resulting in white patches, which can develop in the early months of life. 4. Pityriasis Alba: This is a common skin condition that causes white or pale patches, especially on the face. It is not contagious and usually disappears without treatment. These are just a few of the possible causes of white patches on the skin of an 8-month-old baby, and it is important to get a proper diagnosis from a healthcare professional. Treatment will depend on the cause, so it’s best to consult with a pediatrician or a dermatologist to determine the underlying cause of the white patches and the appropriate treatment.
