A. Spotting after a missed period can occur for several reasons, including: 1. Hormonal Changes: Fluctuations in hormone levels can cause spotting. Stress, changes in weight, or changes in routine can also affect your menstrual cycle. 2. Implantation Bleeding: If you are sexually active and there is a chance you could be pregnant, spotting can occur if a fertilized egg implants in the uterine lining. 3. Birth Control: If you are on hormonal birth control, it can lead to irregular bleeding or spotting, especially if you recently started or changed your method. 4. Early Pregnancy: Besides implantation bleeding, other forms of light spotting can occur in early pregnancy, particularly if you are experiencing changes in your cycle. 5. Medical Conditions: Conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), fibroids, or infections can also cause spotting. 6. Menstrual Cycle Irregularities: Sometimes, your body may skip a period and then have light bleeding or spotting as it adjusts. Since you are experiencing changes in your menstrual cycle, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional to determine the cause of the spotting and to rule out any underlying health issues. They may recommend a pregnancy test, hormonal evaluation, or other assessments based on your symptoms and history.
