Q.

hi my daughter was having 103 fever in the morning and doctor gave rectal medicine and after coming home I gave meftal 5ml after 2.5 hrs as fever didn't reduce from 102. after that she was very dizzy and slept few hours and when got up was hallucinating for few mins and then became normal. but am afraid now that I gave fever medicine so soon. pls advice

A. just wait and watch and keep the child comfortable for fever as well as pain kindly give paracetamol according to the weight of child as well as according to the power of paracetamol medicine you are having and paracetamol can be given maximum 4 times per day and also do body sponge to decrease the surface temperature. also when u take temperature in the armpit of the child and it is 100 or more then only consider it as fever and give paracetamol. higher medicines for fever like ibugesic and mefenamic has to be given only after medical consultation. after giving fever medicines you can wait for maximum 3 days and then meet your doctor if it is not improving. keep the child in cool atmosphere

A. hi parent pcm pediatric drops can be given to her at the interval of about five hours . please consult your pediatrician as well please remember to keep.her well hydrated when ever she has fever
