A. For a 5-month-old baby, it's important to be cautious about the milk you provide, especially when introducing cow's milk. Here are some guidelines regarding how long mixed cow's milk can be kept at room temperature: 1. Mixed Milk (Cow's Milk + Breast Milk/Formula): If you're mixing cow's milk with breast milk or formula, it should not be left at room temperature for more than 1 hour. After 1 hour, any leftover milk should be discarded to avoid the growth of harmful bacteria. 2. Cow's Milk Alone: If you're offering cow's milk on its own, it can also be kept at room temperature for up to 2 hours. After that, it should be discarded to ensure safety. Key Points: Avoid leaving milk out for long periods (especially in warm temperatures), as bacteria can grow, which can be harmful to your baby. If the milk has been refrigerated and is then warmed, it should not be reheated more than once. Always prepare fresh milk whenever possible, especially for babies under 1 year, to avoid any risk of foodborne illness. If you're introducing cow's milk, consult with your pediatrician to ensure it's appropriate for your baby, as most doctors recommend waiting until after 1 year before introducing whole cow's milk. Also, remember that breast milk or formula should still be the primary source of nutrition for a 5-month-old.
