Hi My baby sometimes only licks nipples and not sucking This happens for 3-4 days and again she starts sucking Why

A. dear mum baby suck at the breast not only for nutrition but also for comfort, sense of security and warmth. if baby sucks at the nipple sometimes or during certain period of the feeding session do not worry. take care that the baby latches well when feeding maximum possible areola should be in baby's mouth if breast is too full with milk and creating problem with latching then you may Express little breast milk before feeding

A. don't worry when ever babies start licking you have to stop him and hold your aerole in your both fingers and try to breastfeed your baby in a silent room so that no sound can distract him and he can breastfeed properly
