Q.

Hi, My baby got perianal abscess in his bum and it was drained. It is healing now. But I am worried why did it occur as doctor didn't say the exact cause of it. So please suggest how can I make sure it won't reoccur

A. Hi. Perianal abcess can happen due to infected glands near the anus or an infection of fissures. It can happen due to improper cleaning of the bum after a diaper change or a blocked duct. To ensure it doesn’t happen again you can do frequent diaper changes and ensure the anal area is cleaned properly with lukewarm water each time.
