A. A baby should be exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months of her life. But she can continue with breast milk upto 1 year of age. You can introduce one solid or semi solid food in her diet once she completes 6 months of age and then increase it gradually. You can give Dal Ka Pani or rice Ka Pani or any one fruit puree or stewed apple or any one vegetable puree or clear vegetable soup or rice porridge or ragi porridge once the baby completes 6 months of age. You can also introduce sips of water in between meals once she completes 6 months of age. If breast milk production is not enough and you think that the baby does not get full or stays irritated then you can consult with your doctor and introduce formula milk in her diet once she completes 6 months. After she turns one year old, you can introduce whole cow's milk in her diet.
