Q.

Hi mom of 8 months old. My kid got affected by cough some times it is hard I can hear the mucus sound from her chest. Consulted doc he prescribed mucolite I am giving to her for two days still the cough did not stop and mucus sound also there.. suggest any home remedy or good doctors in and around chennai

A. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful . cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after a proper evaluation by hthe doctor according to the type of jgcough. if fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .
