Q.

Hi, is giving Glycerin Suppository for every 3 day to the baby is safe? My baby, he is 2 Month old and not motioning until and unless keeping this tablet. He is having BreastMilk. Earlier he went to motion for 4 to 5 times a day. But, from 15 days he is taking gap of 2 to 3 days. From last 2 times we are giving Glycerin Suppository according to the Pediatrician and again he is not pooping out. I think again we need to give this tablet to him. I am slight Nervous on this. Please suggest me.

A. hi passing no motion for 3-4 days is very common. you should wait 5 to 7 days but if your baby is feeling uneasy then you can give glycerine suppository on prescription of the doctor breastfed babies do not pass motion regularly because mother's milk is almost completely absorbed nothing much is left to pass out through motion

A. no dont give it again and again.... constipation in neonatal age is common issue... everytime u dobt meed to put glycerine suppository.... u xan do anal ticklibg also... continue breastfeeds maximum

A. Hi This is common in babies. Even if they don't poop for 5-6 days or poop 5-6 times in a day. both are normal if your baby is active and taking feed wel. Don't put suppository in 2-3 days. wait for atleast 5-6 days or if baby is having some problem then only use suppository. otherwise he will get use to it.

Q. Hi my baby (one month old) is taking feeds well, however he is not passing stools regularly. When connected with paediatrician, he suggested that it is quite common problem for new born babies nothing to worry and suggested to use Glycerin 1gm rectal suppository after 10days of waiting. Same has been done, after 10days of waiting we had used Glycerin rectal suppository. Again today is 6th day he didn't pass the stool. Other paediatrician suggested not to use Glycerin rectal suppository as it is not safe at this age, and suggested to use Livoluk oral syrup. Please guide me and throw some light on it and provide your valuable suggestions.
