ExpertDr. Swapnil SaxenaAyurvedic Physician7 years agoA. hi due to the risk of aspiration feeding lying down is not recommended. maintain a proper posture while breastfeeding the newborn. aspiration can be dangerous. burp baby well after every feed to release gases swallowed during feeding and hold him in upright position leaning on your shoulder and gently massage his back

But you should know that the problem in this position is that milk may enter the nose, eyes, ears of the baby and it may lead to complications. So to avoid these issues you just have to be aware best is to place the baby on your laps and then feed. It's stressful but pay attention when you are feeding your baby.
