Q.

Hi, Iam second time pregnant and my blood group is A- and husband blood group is O+, Anti D is given after first delivery ... Now the indirect combs test is done in my 3rd month it is negative then and now I am 8th month pregnant now the ICT is positive.. how can it be possible? any serious issue??

A. ICT can be positive even after Anti D. There may be 2 reasons for this, one is the Anti D injection itself, do a qualitative test of Anti D, if it 1:4 dilution or less, that means the test is positive because of the injection and you have nothing to worry about. Second reason could be that Anti D injection was unable to prevent immunisation from happening, which happens if the feto maternal bleed is large. In this case, the quantitative levels of anti D test will be high, and your doctor will manage them accordingly.

A. Hello there ma’am please do not worry about it too much and it is quite difficult to say anything about it without personally examination and proper reports evaluation. So better to clear all your doubts with your gynaecologist in person as she knew the exact health condition of your pregnancy. Take care
