Q.

Hi, I am giving cerelac to baby since 15 days as she is 6.5 months old but as we should not give salt and sugar to babies till one year but cerelac has added sugar in it. So should I stop giving cerelac and introduce other foods or is it okay to feed cerelac ? Also, my baby sleeps at 11.30 pm or 12, so around what time should I make her eat cerelac? At present, I am giving her dinner (cerelac) at 10.30pm. Is it fine or should I change the time of dinner?

A. dear mum, you can add little amount of sugar to your baby's food after 6 months, however salt should be avoided till 1 year. it is better to avoid giving any sort of commercially available packaged foods as these are not as healthy as homemade food. cerelac as added sugar in it. for convenience and quick cooking you can give homemade cereal pulse premix or homemade cerelac. dinner should be given at least 2 hours before baby goes to sleep.
