Q.

Hi I am 35weeks pregnant . I have cold (started with one day sore throat three days back ) and actually felt better in one day except for some phelgm . since yesterday having cough . should I start any antibiotics or is cough syrup enough

A. Cold is most of the time because of some viral infection or allergic condition and symptoms are usually sneezing, running nose, nasal congestion and fever. cough along with throat irritation are usually associated . Treatment consists of antiallergic antipyretics analgesics and decongestants medicine . As a home remedy steam inhalation would be very useful . Medicines like wikoryl / tminic / Alex cold can be used f in a proper dose for 3-5 days as pder the symptoms . Steam inhalation is repeated frequently .

A. Hello dear! Better to check with your doctor. In the meantime try steam inhalation. Warm turmeric milk will also help. Eat a well balanced healthy diet and keep yourself hydrated. Keep your doctor posted about any changes or developments. Good luck and take care.
