Hi everyone.. i want to know about epidural. what is an epidural? when it is given? How does it help ?

ExpertDr.Rasika ThosarPaediatric Intensivist6 years agoA. hi It gives excellent analgesia throughout the labour process, mother can remain calm, can concentrate on what's going on, does not get much fatigue and can put in great pushing efforts towards the end. So in all its excellent if given a choice to take it. It will be a combined decision of gynecologist and anaesthetist whether to give epidural anaesthesia or not. Similarly it may be used if normal delivery is converted to cesearean section in emergency cases.

Sowmya MMom of a 12 yr 1 m old girl6 years agoA. hi actually epidural is given during delivery along with anthesia so its better you discuss with your gynanicologist doctor and get advised about epidural with your doctor and follow as per advice
