Q.

Hi Dr, My 6 months baby has been getting high temperature for day before yesterday. his temperature is fluctuating between 99° and 101.5° or little more. We are done with his all blood tests. All reports are found normal. please suggest what to do? His fever is not going completely. As per his pediatrician, we are giving him fever reducers drops, antibiotics and we are doing sponging as well.

A. It is normal for the fever to come and go throughout the day and night. Fevers due to viruses can last for as little as two to three days and sometime as long as two weeks. and cannot be treated with antibiotics. A fever caused by a bacterial infection may continue until the child is treated with an antibiotic.
