Hi Doctors, My baby girl was born on June 1st 2022 9:13 PM. she is a premature baby born on 29weeks plus 3 days. intially she was on artificial oxygen and as of today she is breathing herself and there are no pipes except food pipe. Still doctors are not recommending for neither for spoon feeding nor mother feeding. they are still sending mother milk and other nutrients through pipe only. Now her weight is 1.140 and when she born she was 1.290 can you please recommend whether I can insist doctors to start spoon feeding.

But right now they might be issue with her health for which they might have not yet started with mothers feed Z they might be getting her to be more stable enough and gain weight . As per her reports it could be said more precisely. So hence if still In doubt you may take a second opinion .

POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 9 yr old boy3 years agoA. At 28 weeks, some babies can root at the breast. At 32 weeks some babies can suck and swallow. By 36 weeks, some preterm babies can breastfeed. Babies with health problems tend to take longer to learn to breastfeed well.
