#AskTheExpert hi doctor...when do posterior frontanelle close..my baby is 4 month old and i still feel a soft spot in posterior region?is it normal

A. hi when sid your babies posterior fontanelle close?? mine is 6 mo and still has posterior fontenelle reply would be great help

A. The posterior fontanelle usually closes by age 1 or 2 months. It may already be closed at birth. The anterior fontanelle usually closes sometime between 9 months and 18 months. The sutures and fontanelles are needed for the infant's brain growth and development.
