Q.

Hi Doctor, My son is 6 month old now. in my 3rd trimester found that my baby has left mild Renal pelviectasis measuring 7mm.They advised to scan when baby turn 1 month old , which we need it was measuring 9mm.they advised to do follow up after 6 months, Now scanning done which is measuring 9.5mm. again doctor advised to do follow up after baby turns 1 year please let me know is this is a serious issue where surgery need to be done?

A. Although surgery is sometimes needed, in many cases hydronephrosis resolves on its own as a child grows, and surgery is not necessary. Essentially, hydronephrosis can be boiled down to a problem of urine flow.
