hi doctor, my son is 3 and half yrs old. for past two days he is suffering from cold.. running nose and cough... I prepared kashayam and gave for two days, now he is oit from running nose... but cough is still there rare at night times.. is giving palm sugar with milk will help in any way for this.?? can we give palm sugar at any time as a substitute for sugar? please help!

A. Cold most of the time is a viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this . cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a proper evaluation by the doctor is done and according to the type of cough its prescribed.gfh if any fever is there paracetamol can be givefn to reduce the temperature and the dose can be repeated again after 6 hours if required .
