Q.

Hi Doctor , my daughter is 16 months old . in general she is a very slow weight gainer . I have tried giving her all sort of diet recommended by our pediatrician however still she is only 8.2 kgs Any advice you would want to give

A. Weight gain in a child is a good indicator for proper health of the child and there should be a regular weight gain as per the age of the child. if there is not a proper weight gain it can be because of many factors and three most important causes are Baby not taking enouugh calories Baby is not absorbing the enough calories which the baby is taking Baby is burnring too many calories . So a proper assessment is very important to know the cause regarding this .

A. very slow weight gain you can give potato sweet potato ragi Dalia eggs banana dry fruits as cashew almond in paste or powdered form ghee butter cheese in moderate amount start with vitamin supplement as zincovit or syrup A to Z consulting your pediatrician
