Q.

hi doctor.. my daughter has a high frequency hearing loss (not sure if it was by birth or by seizures which she got once at the age 2 ). we got to know this only now. we did not feel that she had any hearing issue. recently we did her hearing test as she had adenoids and that time i felt she was having some hearing issue . I want to know if we dont put hearing aids will her hearing loss increase?

A. While some people are bothered by even a slight degree of hearing loss, most are not – and may not even notice it! Hearing aids are very rarely recommended for this degree of loss, and only for cases where an individual perceives a significant handicap from the loss.
