Q.

Hi Doctor, My baby is now 3 months over..earlier doctors used to tell feed between a gap of 2 hrs minimum.My doubt is now that she is entering 4 th month ..how much hours gap and duration should be there for each feed and between feeds. now that since she has started sucking her fingers ..she does not cry when hungry. so currently I am feeding her for 5 to 10 minutes with a gap of 2 hours.kindly guide

A. you have to give only demand feeding to the child that is whenever the child feels hungry you can give milk to the child and the child will take the milk according to the need and then will leave the milk. if the child is taking more milk you can offer milk in more quantity with intermittent burping . there is no need to to go for hourly feeding pattern. also there is no need to wake up the child from sleep if the weight of the child is within normal limits so it is advisable to give feeds only when the child is hungry

A. Hi parent please give daily massage and sun light exposure please give plenty of breast feeding to your child when you're child is demanding it is very helpful
