Q.

Hi doctor. My baby is 5 months old. He has blood like in motion, he has no loose motions. He pooped only once today and he had this blood like in motion and also green in color. What could be the reason?

A. common reason of blood in an infant’s stool is a slight anal tear (fissure) from baby straining with the passage of the stool- give soft fibrous diet. Another common cause of blood in the stools of infants is food allergies- Try to rule out allergent food substance and avoid give it. Occasionally, blood in the stool may be due to breastmilk oversupply.
