Hi Doctor, My baby boy has a habit of finger sucking.How can we get rid of this habit! Is it good or bad?

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children2 years agoA. Thumb sucking in infants is a very normal phenomenon and its called mouthing reflex and nothing to be worried about it just maintain proper hygiene and with time this thing will go .
In the toddlers thumb sucking habit is also seen many a times which could be phycological cause and feeling of insecurity or some stress . Just try to make the child comfortable and diverhyt in some activities also spend good time with the child .
In extreme case withdrawal can be tried with some solutiogn available which are bitter like femite lotion . It needs to be applied locally .

SanthoshiMom of a 8 yr 1 m old girl2 years agoA. these are actually milestone. They start to play and explore. They slowly start observing and They start playing exploring with their body. Let them play and explore and learn. . Maintain hygiene. Let parts be clean and hygiene don't worry
