Q.

hi, Any ENT and Audiologist plz tell me. my son is having severe profound hearing loss in both in the Bera test . Dr suggested cochlear implantation only. if we do surgery he is able to talk with the help of therapy. 1. my doubt is after surgery whether it is able to hear the same as or little. 2.is it safe for the kid . plz clarify .

A. hello, my song is 3 & half years.. he was diagnosed with profound hearing loss at the age of 2. he is now implanted and by the grace of Almighty, he is speaking well too. you should also consider it. cochlear implant is a blessing in disguise for kids with profound hearing loss. yes, regular & proper therapy for 2 years is must by the therapist & at home as well. as about the hearing factors, he listens to all the minute sounds & voices.

A. hello this needs a proper physical examination and is better to have a proper check with your doctor and she will be able to guide u accordingly and will also be safe too

My baby has repeatedly failed the OEM test and doctor adviced to BERA test .Yesterday we had done the BERA test and the intepretation i aa follows RiGht Ear :Hearing in normal limits (25dBnHL) Left ear :Only upto 60 dBnHL is recorded and hearing loss moderate what does this mean .We couldnt consult ENT doc yesterday .Appointment has already been scheduled for 27 April 2024 .
