Q.

Hi all,My son is almost 4 months old..he is 5.5-5.8 kg now and height is 67 cm... I have small doubt if he underweight?? anything to worry..??

A. the weight of the child as well as the weight gain depends upon the genetic patterns as well as according to the birth weight of the child and the minimum weight gain should be between 500 grams to 1kg and if the child is within that limit then there is no need to worry

A. no both are on its own proportion. so please don't take much stress for this. as per my opinion, if your child looks happy healthy and active, gains enough weight, achieve age appropriate milestones then no need to worry about anything.

A. Thanks Dr for your prompt response..Does sometime height is the reason of small weight gain? in my child case his height is bit greater than ideal one..Plz clarify

A. hi babies weight gain depends on their birth weight usually they gain 250 to 500g per month. so don't worry your child weighs really good. feed your child on demand burp your baby well give Massage to your child daily maintain good hygiene
