Q.

Hi All, my baby is 5.5 months old now. 2 days back admitted to hospital for dehydration due to diarrhoea . they gave saline amd medication. now today he discharged but Still he is having diarrhoea 3 to 4 times a day. Doctor told it will Take 3 to 4 days. is there anyone can help me out is this normal or need to worry.

A. Thanks doctor. how many ml and how many times should we need to give zinc sulphate per day.

A. yes follow the dr. if loose motion of the child is not improving the foremost thing you have to do is take a follow with your doctor. it is advisable not to give outside milk if going on and you may have to switch to either lactose free milk or soya milk. please go for stool examination as well as stool culture which will differentiate lactose intolerance with infection. you can continue to give probiotics like such a super flora gg and zinc supplements. (you have to hold multivitamin and iron during loose motions) many times loose motions improving 10 to 15 days also in case of viral diarrhoea.

A. Thanks Nikitha. We are giving baby ORS as well as recommended but as of now its not reduced neither increases.so we are bit worry.

A. hello make sure to give your child fluid well and if the frequency is reduce compared to before then not a problem it will slowly be all fine but if it is increasing then it would be better to immediately check with the doctor and she can guide you accordingly
