Q.

Hi all , I have a question regarding Polio vaccination for baby. My daughter is 4 months old and she was given oral polio vaccine at time of birth and after that she has been given two dosage of hexanim injection (DPTa-hepB-IPV-Hib) Does this injection contains polio vaccine as well ? And is it okay not to give oral polio vaccine through mouth now as doctor says through hexanim injection it has been given ? Is it fine to give IPV rather than Oral polio vaccine . Thanks in advance

A. Hi OPV is easy to administer and induces gut immunity but there is slight risk of vaccine associated poliomyelitis ipv helps in overcoming that and provides additional protection against Polio virus. Take all vaccines as scheduled please consult Paediatrician

A. IPV is through injection and OPV is orally. both are supposed to be same. since its a combination its given internally with other vaccinations so that it's only one prick. no need to worry. just follow the vaccination chart given by your Pediatrician or the hospital and get all vaccinations on time as per that chart.
