Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. straining while passing stool as well as urine is normal.
the child is crying due to colic pain (due to gas) and not due to the reason that the child has not passed the stool.
infants may not pass stool for 10 days also and if the consistency of the stool is semi solid to solid it is not constipation. you can consider constipation only if it is hard and dry stools.
you can give anticolgic medicines and meet your doctor.
burping / upright position for 20 minutes will help in decreasing the gas and future colic pain
Sai Prasanthi R LMom of a 11 yr 6 m old boy1 Year agoA. Hello dear parent! Exclusively breastfeeding babies sometimes do not pass stools even for a week. It is normal as long as baby is healthy and active, accepting feeds and passing adequate urine. Consult your doctor for further assistance. Keep Babyhug tummy roll on handy
