Q.

Hello.. my baby is 3 months old.. I would like to know something.. when we eat food, some of the food particles tend to stick on the tongue so v clean it when we brush the teeth in the morning.. does breastmilk also stick on the tongue for babies? my mother in law says it does and so we have to clean it with a thin cloth while bathing her otherwise there is a risk of baby catching cold.. Is that true? do breastmilk stick on baby's tongue? do we have to clean tongue for babies with a thin cloth? please advise..

A. yes cleaning of babys tongue and gums should start soon after birth as the milk sticks to both of it you can also use a silicone finger brush instead of a cotton cloth

A. hi no ,it is just myth. breastmilk provides protection against viral or bacterial Infections. so it can not cause cold. you can clean your child tounge with Cotton clothe but it is not necessary. mam,as per my opinion, if your child looks happy healthy and active, gains enough weight then no need to worry about anything.
