HomeQuestions & AnswersHello,
My baby is 19 months old now but he does not speak much except few words like muma, Dada, Tata. Though he blabbers a lot but when we try to put some words he does not respond.
My in laws are like why he is not speaking at this age. He is my first child so I am also confused whether it's okay or not. Please help me and let me know how I can teach my child to speak.

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 9 m old boy3 years agoA. proper language / speech development will start between 18 months of age to 2 years of age. there is no need to worry before that just concentrate on the diet and regular interaction with the child. also speech and language develops properly with more people available to interact with the child avoid usage of tv mobile and laptop because they are the most common reasons for delayed speech and language development. the most important thing is that before speech understanding of the commands given by the parents should be presdent.d by 18 months if the child is not following basic commands then only you have to meet the doctor requirement of speech therapy will also be discussed by your doctor
