Hello my baby have runny nose and cough. Can I give apple or sweet potato puree?

ExpertDr. Pandurang sawantPaediatrician7 years agoA. Yes sure No food restrictions Most of the time cough cold, are viral in origin, it may subside by 3 -9 days. No need of any medication if mild. If baby have cold then need steam inhalation, nasal decongestant drops (nasivion baby nasal drops/Otrivin-P nasal drops 1drop in each nostril 3-4 times a day for 3 days). If cough then need cough syrup or drops as per babys cough condition (wet or dry). Keep ur baby well hydrated in cough cold episode Maintain hygiene, hand wash properly, Keep ur baby away from other infected persons if possible , continue to give all food items as before, continue breast feed as well till 1.5 yrs of age, It will help for fast recovery. If decreased oral intake, decreased urine output, breathing difficulty, Then need to consult with ur nearest pediatrician.

s madaanMom of a 10 yr 3 m old girl7 years agoA. yeah u can Apply mustard oil with a pinch of rock salt over chest back and neck of the baby and also u should give ajvain sek by roasting ajvain over tawa and then it to the hanky and keeping it near the head of the baby Keep head elevated for helping child to breath easy. For runny nose or blocked nose Use saline drops and nasal aspirator to clean up the mucus Keep head elevated Apply cream near nose to avoid dryness and itching Keep baby well hydrated Apply turmeric paste over nose and forehead of the baby will help
