Q.

Hello mam, my son is nearly 2 yrs... He is continuously itching his anus area.. I have given him albendazole syrup in aug/sep.. But it seems that the problem has not gone.. What should be done.. Should i give him another course.. Kindly suggest...

A. Mam, there is always a course of these medicines. It should be given according to child's age and weight. A doctor can only prescribe you the right dose. Few recommend 3 bottles subsequently for 3 days while few says one is enough. It also depends on the brand and composition of medicine. If according to your doctor you have given the desired quantity then do not give him any more medicine. Wait for few days as deworming medicines are given i mean generally they are given once in 6 months. Sometimes hard stool can also induce itching. Plz find out is there any other reason for the itching. Put some coconut oil with clean hands and see if it works.
