Q.

Hello. I had a regular period cycle (28 to 30 days). However, for the past few months, my period dates have been fluctuating a lot. Either I get it 3 - 4 earlier or 3 - 4 days late. I had got periods on 18th Nov, then 21st Dec, and now on 26th Jan. We have been trying to conceive. I wanted to know when would be my fertile days for next month?

A. In an average 28-day menstrual cycle, ovulation typically occurs about 14th to 18th day of regular period. However, each person's cycle length may be different, and the time between ovulation and the start of the next menstrual period may vary. Ovulation usually happens once each month, about two weeks before your next period. Ovulation can last from 16 to 32 hours.

A. On average, a woman with a regular 28-day cycle ovulates on about the 14th day of each cycle. If a woman's cycle is longer or shorter than 28 days, the predicted ovulation date is changed accordingly. For example, during a 24-day cycle (4 days shorter than the average), ovulation takes place on about the 10th day.
