Hello everyone my child is having fever 101 and bad cold .He is dropping yellow green mucus from nose.He is crying lot and not eating properly.Kindly guide me.Doctor has given Dolo 250 ,Allegra and meftal. Is.it a viral fever. Kindly guide me.

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Cold most of the time is a viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a proper evaluation by the doctor is done and according to the type of cough its prescribed.
if any fever is cthere paracetamol can be given txo reduce the temperature and the dose can be repeated again after 6 hours if required .
