Q.

hello Dr, my baby is 8 months old. started giving food to baby. she is not at all drinking water, if she has hiccups hardly 4 -5 sips she is taking. and passing stool 4 days once, that is too very hard . can you please tell why she is not drinking water? what is the sufficient water amount for this 8 month old baby? what can we do for her to drink sufficient water? seeking your help.

A. hello mom always when you start with weaning foods you need to first initially start with liquid consistency and then gradually move to semi solid and mashed foods as well . and then to soft consistency . prefer home cooked and natural foods .avoid premixes

A. The reason why your baby is not willing to drink water could be because there is water in the milk, vegetables, fruits and soup that she consumes, so she is not thirsty. Therefore, parents should not force her to drink water. When your baby is thirsty, she will naturally drink.
