Q.

hello doctor, my son is now 8 months and we have started solids from 6th month and his poop was very regular till almost 4th month but after that he passes stools once in 3 days then it got worse and once it went till once in 7 days.. now he is too much constipated (passing pebble like stools, exactly like a tight dough)... we are feeding him ragi porridge, does it cause constipation?

A. yes this is frequently constipation in children is quite common and can be corrected by diet changes . Give plenty of water and other fluids like buttermilk juice to baby . Include fibre rich food items like fruits papaya , banana and green leafy vegetables spinach, carrot in baby diet . Can use glycerine suppository for immediate relief from hard stools .
