Q.

Hello Doctor, my son is constantly screeching, feeling of being constipated and he turns red cause of that. Please may I know if this is something I should be worried about. Also, he poops once in 4-5 days. Thank you.

A. straining while passing stool as well as urine is normal. the child is crying due to colic pain (due to gas) and not due to the reason that the child has not passed the stool. infants may not pass stool for 10 days also and if the consistency of the stool is semi solid to solid it is not constipation. you can consider constipation only if it is hard and dry stools. you can give anticolic medicines and meetx your doctor. burping / upright position for 20 minutes will help in decreasing the gas and future colic pain

A. It’s completely normal for a child and also if your child is pooping 4 to 5 times in the day then there’s definitely no issue of constipation to the child and the issue that you were saying that the child turns red and all is completely normal but still if you have any kind of a doubt about this then please consult your paediatrician
