Q.

Hello Doctor! My son is 10 months old and weighs 9.1kg. He likes bananas. we give him bananas and carrots everyday, but it comes out undigested in his stool. is it normal?

A. it is very common that after starting complementary food after completion of 6 months of age you may find undigested food as well as parts of the food directly in the stool but there is no need to worry regarding this pattern. the digestive process of the child is developing and will improve with increasing age of the child. it is important to give only easilyd digestible food to the child and the quantity should be increased gradually and you can take help of mixer as well as filter sieve to make the food puree and then give it to the child instead of giving direct solid food at this age. avoid a particular food which is not digested properly.

A. The weight gain of the child is very good but if the food is getting undigested that means your child is having just basic issue of indigestion you can check with your doctor for medication to regularise the digestion of the child which is what is going to be beneficial incorrect for you to follow
