Q.

Hello doctor, my son got fever from last Tuesday and it continued till Friday... doctor started with antibiotic with which the fever went away for two days... Saturday and Sunday he had no fever at all. on Monday 25th he got fever again somewhere 101. After that till today no fever. As a precaution, we did dengue test NS1 after 7 days and it came out negative...What is the timeframe for dengue test to be done? Have we done it in correct interval? His reports attached

A. dengue is a viral infection. the treatment consist only of symptomatic relief for the child. you can give only paracetamol for decreasing fever along with body sponge. if it is diagnosed you have to go for blood investigation either into or three days to see for decrease in platelet. no specific treatment is given for dengue and the doctor will wait till the body recovers from dengue by itself. very important to maintain hydration by givindg regular water fluids and small amount of easily digestible food. please remain in contact with your doctor for more information and andy confusion
