Q.

Hello doctor, My daughter is 16 months old now and she was administered the first dose of Flu vaccine when she was aged 6 months in November 2020 and second dose in February 2021. I came to know that Flu vaccine should be given yearly once until 5 years. when is the right time to get the Flu vaccination done yearly. can I get it done now? Will this also prevent any Covid related issues? #Vaccination

A. Influenza vaccine or the flu vaccine is basically a vaccine which protects against different strains of flu viruses including swine Flu virus which causes symptoms specially in children because of less immunity. Though it is not a mandatory vaccine but it should be given to every child to protect against different flu infection which is very common every year . this vaccine is given aftervg 6 months of age and initially two doses are given one month apart then every year single dose is required . It is not documented but still studies suggest that to some extent it may give partial protection against covid infection .
