HomeQuestions & Answershello doctor,
my baby is 6 months old and we have started giving solids from past 2 week. We have started with Ragi porridge as per doctor's suggestion. But after that i am seeing my babies stool is hard. one time while passing stool he cried and there was slight blood. later it was fine. again today i observed there was slight blood mucus in his poop but he didn't cry while pooping.
what could be reason for this? should we immediately consult doctor?

ExpertDr. Swapnil SaxenaAyurvedic Physician3 years agoA. hey thats blood with stool, keep giving water too.. . . give fibre containing fruits as well. After your baby has completed 6 month of age, you can gradually start weaning foods. Keep in mind that weaning is a gradual and time taking process and baby takes time to switch to foods, other than breast milk. You can start with rice porridge, Ragi porridge. Also you can give mashed fruits like chikoo, banana, papaya, pureed Apple, etc. You should avoid giving animal milk to the baby before he is 1 year old and also avoid salt and sugar for him till that age. Simple homemade foods which are easy to digest fresh ,Cerelac nestum can be offered. keep giving water also after 6 month complete and breast feeding to be continued too.
