The hormones in our body that are responsible for lactation interfere with the hormones responsible for menstruation. That's why till we are exclusively breastfeeding, chances are we will not have periods. As you withdraw breastfeeding gradually, the menstruation hormones shall start getting activated.
My son is 4 months old and my periods have not started either.
