Q.

Hello doctor My 2 month old baby is developing dark brown but soft ear wax more often. Does it indicate an ear infection? Baby is not fussy.

A. you have to clean the ears of the child only externally with cotton cloth. do not use anything like earbuds to clean the internal ear. this will only do more harm as wax will get impacted inside deep and will cause more problem. if you feeel that the child is having some problems in the internal ear then kindly meet your doctor for examination. if the child is having wax problem and not improving with drops you have to get it removed with the help of your ent doctor.

A. No I don’t think so see a child is also exposed to natural stuff around so little bit of dust and dirt can cause this kind of an issue but since it is soft and you are able to clean it from outside and I don’t think so it is an infection infection mostly is inside the years not in the form of wax
